US SUPREME COURT DECLINES TO BLOCK A VIRGINIA EXECUTION

The United States Supreme Court has declined to block the execution of Paul Warner Powell. Powell, convicted of killing a 16-year-old girl in 1999, had asked the Court to block his execution and was claiming that he had been unconstitutionally tried twice.

The decision to allow the execution to go forward was issued without comment by the Supreme Court.
